    Ice Architecture

These beautiful ice sculptures create a real winter wonderland as they are painstakingly created from huge mounds of compressed snow for China’s annual ice festival. After thousands of man hours in the making, the stunning sculptures are finally ready for the throngs of tourists at the annual Jingyue Snow World festival in Jingyuetan National Forest in China’s Jilin Province. Vatnajökull Ice Cap, Iceland by Örvar Atli Þorgeirsson

Flowing from Europe´s largest ice cap Vatnajökull the glaciers contain centuries old ice which has seen all its air pressed out of it turning it into this crystal blue ice. Not all ice caves have this colored ice but Vatnajökull seems to produce the right conditions for them to form.
